MESSAGES FROM OUR SKATERS AROUND THE
WORLD: Malcolm Froneman is now in Aussie Land and looking to hear from
his old buddies in SA: "I would love to get in contact with any
skaters from the 90's! Ahhh the good old memories of the old goodwood ice rink!
I miss everyone terribly and would love to hear from anyone who remembers me !
I have been in Australia since 1995 and skated here until 1999. Since then I
have been involved a lot in judging and officiating. The Aussie skating scene is
rather similar to that within South Africa!
I've attached some photos as well- of Bec Harrison and myself (my pairs partner)
and also of some of the other skaters from new south wales.
Talk to you soon
Cheers
Malcolm"

Another "old" friend that we've heard from across
the miles is Lance Hamel:
"Hi All.
I guess I'm another of the "Oldies". My wife Liesl and I have been traveling
since '97. We lived in London, UK for about 6 months then moved over to the
United States in '98. Cities we've lived in so far - Minneapolis, Minnesota,
Manhattan, New York, Charlotte, North Carolina and are currently in Virginia
Beach, Virginia (it's on the East Coast about 3 hours south of Washington).
I have a son now (Aidan) and look forward to teaching him to skate one day. I
really miss you guys and would love to hear from you.
Miss you all.

Guess who we've heard from: Fiona Kirk, another
one of our "oldies", who is still flying high with South Africa's name. Fiona is
still very active with Holiday On Ice: Just take a look at some of her pics -
click the thumbnails to view the larger image:
"Hello there, this is Fiona Kirk
Just went visiting home via the net and couldn't help dropping into the
ice-rink. Once a skater, always a skater!
Hope alls well and I will be home again in February 2003 from Holiday on Ice. I
haven't skated on that great new(not so new now) rink so I'll be bringing my
skates for sure and trying to organise an "OLDIES" reunion skate. What do you
think all you veterans out there?
Sent a few photies with my mail so you can see that I haven't degenerates too
badly.
Miss you all
Love
Fiona"

We've had contact from Sharin Louw - an old (maybe ex is a
better word!) WP skater, who is now working in
London. "I've been abroad since Oct
1997. I got engaged in February and my hubbie to be and I have bought a
house in Guildford which is a couple of miles outside of London so I'm
definitely here for the foreseeable future. Send my love to everyone at the
rink who remembers me. Would love to hear from all of them."
All
the best Sharin &
"hubby", let's hope we see you one day on our new ice!

We have been asked for contact details for Kerry Ryan and
Margaret Barrows.
Please drop me a line so that I can pass it on to Judy Lowrie of Canada (who
skated in Holiday on Ice, 1995, SA) |
